Sezze, March 28th, 2019
On March 28th, 2019, the first presentation of
the LIFE GREENCHANGE project was held at “Mario Costa” Auditorium in Sezze.
Fifty local stakeholders and experts, students of the IS.S.I.S.S.
“Pacifici and De Magistris di Sezze” attended the event, for a total
of over 110 participants.
The event consisted of two session: in the morning an information session
including presentations by partners and institutional actors, and in the
afternoon an open discussion session.
After the institutional opening speeches of the Mayor of Sezze, Sergio Di Raimo,
and of the President of the Province of Latina, Carlo Medici, Giovanni Bernasconi, Councilor responsible
for Territorial Planning and Transport, Environment and Ecology, Productive
Activities of the Province of Latina, introduced the day’s agenda.
Next Nicoletta Valle, Project Manager of the project LIFE GREENCHANGE told the
story of the birth of the project and its relations with the many initiatives
that the Province of Latina is carrying out in the environmental sector.
Stefano Magaudda, technical reference for the project of the company U-Space
srl explained to the audience the objectives, actions and results that are
expected following the realization of the project. The technical representative
for CIRF, Giancarlo Gusmaroli, explained the environmental role of ecosystem
services and of the Agro Pontino hydrographic network requalification.
Representing
Confagricoltura, Simonetta Dario described in detail the implementation of the
demonstration projects that LIFE GREENCHANGE will carry out in the next period.
Afterwards, Serena Muccitelli of U-Space
srl explained the contents and aims of the Land stewardship Agreements, an
important result of the project, thanks to the signing of which it will be
possible to start a process of environmental protection of the Agro Pontino by
the same actors operating in the area.
Mara Cossu, for Poliedra, described the function and importance of the
Biodiversity Pact that will allow actors to agree on actions aimed at
increasing the functionality and ecological connectivity of the agricultural areas.
After a short break, the second session started with the description of GREENCHANGE activities for companies supporting rural biodiversity, presented by Poliedra’s technical representative, Carlotta Sigismondi. The project activities in this sense will be launched in the summer of 2019 and will end in March 2022 and will allow farmers to increase their awareness on the environmental effects of agriculture and their role in preserving agricultural areas of ecological importance, promoting cooperation between farms and promoting access to RDP funds, with particular reference to agri-environmental interventions. The session continued with the round table entitled “Green infrastructures and agri-environmental measures: opportunities and prospects”, moderated by Giuseppe Dodaro, CIRF technical expert. Speakers included Luigi Servadei (Ministry of Agricultural Food and Forestry Policies, CREA – Political and Bioeconomic Center), Mauro D’Arcangeli (Director of Confagricoltura of Latina), Massimo Amodio (Vice-President of the Roffredo Caetani Foundation), Denis Carnello (President of Coldiretti of Latina) debating the important opportunities that the project can bring to agriculture also in terms of economic induced activity as well as improving the environmental quality of the territory.
